BRUNEI DARUSSALAM ASSOCIATION OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Brunei Darussalam Association of Food Science and Technology (BDAFST) is a non-profit and non-government organisation (NGO). Established on 2nd August 2005, it serves as a focal point for everyone who is involved in food science and technology fields.

Objectives:

  • To promote food science and technological knowledge
  • To promote research and development within the food industries
  • To promote public understanding of issues involving food science and technology
  • To provide technological consultancy for BDAFST members
  • To exchange technological information at both local and international levels
  • To provide technological training and workshops for the food industry
  • To support government policies in strengthening food quality and safety
  • To coordinate with international organizations involving in food science and technology

Membership and Subscription Fees:

BDAFST members are classified into four categories and their annual fees are as follows :
Fellows $ 25.00
Associates $ 25.00
Members $ 25.00
Students $ 10.00

Membership of BDAFST is open all in government and private sectors, lecturers, teachers, students and all from the interested public sectors. Application forms shall be obtained from the Reception at the Brunei Agriculture Research Centre, Department of Agriculture, Kilanas.

Activities:

  • Organise local, regional and international technical conferences on food technology and current issues, eg. Modified Foods (GMO), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Food Processing, Food Packaging, Food Product Development, Food Marketing etc.
  • Promote and participate in regional and international technical conferences, eg. The ASEAN Food Conference, Food Ingredient Asia, World Congress on Food Science and Technology, etc.
  • Support graduate students to present research work in both local, regional and international conferences
  • Collaborate with government agencies in establishing food policies and standards.
  • Support the activities of international organisations such as the Federation of Institutes of Food Science and Technology (FIFSTA), International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), etc.
  • Network with food specialists in providing technological consultancy to food industries.
  • Disseminate information through BDAFST web page on the Internet.
