ASSISTANT SOIL CONSERVATION OFFICER (C-3)
(Agriculture Department, Ministry of Industry and Primary
Resources)
Salary Scale : C-3 B$1,980.00 (Fixed) per month
Period : 3 years (36 months) contract
Minimum Qualification:
- BDTEC/BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Soil Conservation /
Land and Water or Environmental Science / Geography / Science or
other relevant qualification from Institutes recognised by The
Government of His Majesty The Sultan of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
- Higher qualification in relevant subject would be an advantage.
- Age 25-40 years old.
Priority will be given to candidate with the following
experiences:-
- Work experience in land degradation management / soil
erosion projects.
- Possess skill in research reports writing and publication.
- Possess good knowledge and skill in computer and Geography
Information System (GIS).
- Ability to speak and write in Malay and English fluently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and ensure implementation of the consultancy
project on 'Assessment and Impact of Soil Erosion and
Development of Soil Conservation Strategies in Major
Agricultural Project Areas in Brunei Darussalam'.
- Development of strategies and mechanism for
implementation of soil conservation techniques.
- Implementation the follow up action on outcome of the
findings of the consultancy project.
- Conducting advanced field studies on soil erosion
control and conservation techniques.
- Assessing problems of soil erosion and suitable
controlling techniques according to degree of steepness,
soil type and amount of rainfall.
- Conducting technology transfer activities and training
programmes to field staff and farmers through participatory
extension approach system.
- Liaise with districts extension staffs and farmers for
implementation of suitable soil conservation technologies at
different Agriculture Development Areas (ADAs).
- Liaise with international organizations including ASEAN
region on exchange of information on soil erosion control
technologies for adoption in Brunei Darussalam.
- Conduct field visits for monitoring the problem of soil
erosion in Agriculture Development Areas (ADAs).
- Provide advisory services on soil conservation
techniques for the farming community.
- Prepare pamphlets / booklets on the guidelines and
different method of soil management and conservation
techniques in hilly Agriculture Development Areas (ADAs)
- Cooperate and implement other tasks assigned by senior
officers in the department.
General
Successful applicant must be prepared to perform duties
outside normal working hours, week-end and public holiday or
undertake shift duties. They must also be prepared to serve
in any part of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
SENIOR SOIL CONSERVATION ASSISTANT
(C-2):
(Agriculture Department, Ministry of Industry
and Primary Resources)
Salary Scale: C-2 B$1.215.00 per month (Fixed)
Period: 3 years (36 months)
Minimum Qualification:
- BDTEC/BTEC National Diploma (ND) in Science /
Geography / Biology / Chemistry / Environmental Science
or other relevant qualification from Institutes
recongnised by The Government of His Majesty The Sultan
of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
- Higher qualification in relevant subject would be an
advantage.
- Age 25-40 years old.
Priority will be given to candidate with the
following experiences;-
- Field knowledge in agriculture specific to soils
and crops.
- Good knowledge and skill in computer and
Geography Information System (GIS).
- Knowledge in soil chemical and physical analysis
and handling latest laboratory analysis equipments.
- Ability to speak and write in Malays and English
fluently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting in implementation of various soil
conservation research programs.
- Assisting the extension staff of the
districts and farmers in implementation of
suitable soil conservation technologies at
different sites.
- Assisting Assistant Soil Conservation
Officer in organizing various technology
transfer and training programs on soil
conservation techniques for extension staff and
the farming community.
- Working with field extension staff on
adoption of various techniques through
participatory approach by farmers.
- Conduct field for monitoring the problem of
soil in Agriculture Development Areas (ADAs) and
collecting soil samples.
- Provide advisory services on soil
conservation techniques for the farming
community.
- Handling chemical and physical analysis of
the soil sample and other laboratory works.
- Other tasks assigned by senior officers in
the department.
General:
Successful applicant must be prepared to
perform duties outside normal working hours,
week-end and public holiday or undertake shift
duties. They must also be prepared to serve in
any part of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Successful candidates will be appointed
initially on a 3 years contract. Renewal will be
subject to mutual agreement.
Appointment will be immediate for successful
candidates.
